A fresh take on spring garden romance, the palette leaned into vibrant pastels: poppy pinks, butter yellow, soft lilac, and tangerine, anchored with refined whites and lush greenery. From the overflowing florals to the Polaroid cake topper and a floral collar for their beloved Newfoundland, Appa, every element struck a balance between whimsical and refined. The vision was to create a day that felt editorial and design-forward, but still warm and approachable — a true reflection of the couple’s personalities and the love they share (four-legged family members included)

Ryan and I met while teaching in South Carolina and had been dating for 3 years when he proposed. He popped the question on December 12, 2023, during what I assumed was just a quick walk to look at Christmas lights. I was literally still in the shower when he barged in and said we had to leave immediately. My hair was soaking wet and shoved into a winter hat, and I had no idea why he was suddenly in such a rush (spoiler: it wasn’t about the lights)! We ended up at our town’s arboretum, where he got down on one knee. A second later, his friend jumped out of the bushes with a camera — turns out he’d been hiding there the whole time to capture the moment. It all made sense in that instant. It all came together in the funniest, most unexpected way. Totally us!

The dress featured a structured bodice, a subtle floral-textured fabric, and a dramatic slit that looked fresh and modern while still feeling timeless and romantic. It was the perfect pairing for the bright spring florals and coastal setting.

The bridesmaids wore a mix of gowns in a soft pastel wildflower palette that brought such joy and vibrancy to the day. Designers included Birdy Grey, Azazie, and Mac Duggal, creating a beautifully cohesive look without being too matchy. The food and drink experience was designed to reflect the couple’s coastal venue and personal tastes, with a heavy focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients and signature touches that made guests feel celebrated from the moment they arrived. Cocktail hour featured a raw bar filled with oysters from Barnegat Bay and an iced shrimp tower that was as elegant as it was refreshing. Passed hors d’oeuvres included playful heart-shaped watermelon radishes and shrimp-topped polenta rounds—small bites with big flavor and beautiful presentation. For drinks, the couple created a custom menu of signature cocktails that showcased their personalities—with a twist. “Hers” was Jess’s Cosmopolitan, a classic mix of vodka, Cointreau, cranberry, and lime juice. “His” was Ryan’s Transfusion, featuring vodka, grape juice, and ginger ale. But the crowd favorite was “Ours,” a margarita named after their beloved Newfoundland pup—Appa’s Margarita—made with tequila, lime juice, triple sec, and agave. Complete with a mini portrait of Appa on the drink menu, it was a sweet, lighthearted detail that guests absolutely loved.

From the moment guests arrived, every space was bursting with color and texture, designed to feel like a fresh spring meadow in full bloom. The palette played with soft pastels and bold pops of coral, tangerine, butter yellow, and lilac, brought to life through romantic blooms like ranunculus, delphinium, sweet pea, and garden roses.
Designed by Twisted Willow Flowers, the ceremony arch and mantelpiece installation framed the stone fireplace with an explosion of florals that felt organic and artfully overgrown, as if they had bloomed there naturally. Inside the reception, lush low arrangements lined the long tables in playful, overflowing compositions. Napkins in the softest seafoam were topped with sprigs of rosemary — a subtle nod to nature and simplicity — while the sweetheart table was wrapped in a garden of blooms that cascaded down to the floor.
One of the most charming details was the seating chart: a custom display titled “Our Best Buds,” where vintage bud vases overflowed with florals and each guest found their table nestled among the blooms — a playful and personal touch that set the tone for the celebration ahead.
It was a perfect blend of refined and free-spirited. Every floral moment felt joyful, abundant, and alive — as if the celebration itself was blooming right alongside the couple.

The wedding cake was a beautiful reflection of the day’s design—elegant, colorful, and full of personality. The three-tiered cake was iced in smooth, minimalist white buttercream and adorned with fresh flowers that echoed the floral design seen throughout the day. Delicate ranunculus, sweet peas, chamomile, and pastel blooms cascaded across the tiers, tying the cake perfectly into the wildflower-inspired aesthetic. But the sweetest touch of all? The cake topper. During their portrait session, Jess and Ryan snapped Polaroids of each other in front of their ceremony floral installation—and those candid captures became the cake topper. It was such a personal and creative moment, bringing a spontaneous memory full circle into the reception. It felt like the perfect blend of heartfelt, fun, and totally them.

Just over a year old and full of personality, Appa made his debut with the bridesmaids’ bouquets playfully arranged around his face — creating the most unforgettable floral “mane.” He posed proudly under the ceremony arch and in front of the blooming mantel, adding a joyful, personal touch to the afternoon. The vision was curated yet warm, refined yet inviting, with layers that felt collected rather than styled. Every design decision echoed the feeling of stepping into a home. Down to the dance floor that was inspired by Emerald Green marble tiling.

A nod to the city showed up in the menu through mini lobster rolls served during cocktail hour, while the bar menu reflected the groom’s family traditions. With his father being an avid wine enthusiast, large-format bottles were thoughtfully incorporated and specialty poured by the food and beverage team. Guests were rarely without a glass in hand, and the signature blueberry mojito added a playful, personal touch, subtly referencing the couple’s dog, Blue, while offering a “something blue” moment within the overall color palette.[/field]

The floral design made an immediate statement, anchored by a sweeping ceremony arch that set the tone for the celebration. Fashion-forward bridesmaids each wore a distinct color within the palette, creating a look that felt more like a curated runway moment than a traditional lineup. Their bouquets coordinated with their individual dresses, allowing the florals to play into the fashion.

For the cocktail hour, there was a reception of espresso martinis and mimosas for guests paired with charcuterie boards and Irish scones! Food quality in Ireland is always exceptional, with a lot of local produce being used throughout. For the wedding meal, I there was the option of wild grilled halibut or fillet of Hereford beef. Dessert was Bailey’s cheesecake with brown bread ice cream

The ballroom at Powerscourt Hotel is very opulent and luxurious. For the decor, we wanted to enhance this and make it more personal to the couple. We opted for champagne satin tablecloths, gold foil on the stationery, candelabras, and statement florals in blush pink, white, and creams. For flowers,s we kept it very modern with minimal greenery to create a clean look. The top table was a real wow factor with trailing florals.

This was an area we felt we could have fun with! It was created by the Fox and the Flour, a local company in vintage piped style. The couple also chose a vintage cake topper!

A Black-Tie Martha’s Vineyard Wedding with Vibrant Florals and Artful Personal Details

Drawing from classic elements that captured the essence of Martha’s Vineyard, Rachel and Federico hosted a luxe black-tie wedding with an upscale garden aesthetic. While the celebration embraced formality, color found its way in through vibrant floral design. Artistic motifs personalized the day, including the Argentine sun to honor Federico’s heritage, a crew boat symbolizing their time on the rowing team, a sketch of their puppy Penelope, and a rendering of the couple at their favorite restaurant.

Federico and Rachel met during their freshman year of college on an orientation trip and became friends from the start. By October, Federico asked Rachel to be his girlfriend. The two dated throughout college, sharing classes and even the title of captain of the men’s and women’s rowing teams. After graduation, they moved to New York City, where they began their careers and worked side by side in a small one-bedroom apartment. “It only made us closer,” they wrote. In 2022, Federico proposed on a sailboat cruising around Manhattan. “It was a tie back to the story of my grandparents’ first date and so meaningful to both of us,” Rachel explained. As the waters surrounded them, Elvis’ Can’t Help Falling in Love played — a song that had marked their first date and, fittingly, became Rachel’s processional down the aisle.

For the after-party, she changed into a lace mini dress, echoing the spirit of her ceremony look. She paired both ensembles with sentimental heirloom jewelry and diamond earrings gifted by her mother on the wedding day. She described the jewelry as follows: Something Old: a stone passed down from my mother-in-law’s side that I wore inside my dress. Something New: diamond earrings, a gift from my mom.m Something Borrowed: the diamond necklace from my aunt, Something Blue: my sapphire ring from my grandma

Inside the sailcloth tent, the open-air concept took on an elevated feel, with luxe furnishings and whimsical, colorful bouquets.

A Multi-Day Lisbon Wedding Blending Vibrant Sangeet Hues at Palácio Correio Mor

Chic, elegant decor that evokes the natural and historic beauty of each venue. For the Sangeet, we wanted bright colours – corals, deep indigo, bright pinks, and kelly green – bringing the Quinta Bellavista Caparica alive with vivid hues. For the Anand Karaj, to match Manita’s candy pink Sikh bridal salwar kameez, the flowers were soft pinks and whites. The symbolic ceremony at the Palacio Correio Mor was a burst of white and green baby’s breath and soft white roses. The theme carried over to the Cocktail hour, where we built a beautiful indoor bar with an olive tree in the middle of a 4-walled bar. For the Reception, I wanted millions of candles illuminating white roses, crystals, baby’s breath, and chandeliers.

On the 2nd day of the trip, Vijay surprised Manita with a helicopter trip over the beautiful Napali Coast. The chopper landed near a set of private waterfalls – and as the sun broke over the clouds, Vijay proposed. Most surprising was that he was able to keep his plans completely hidden from Manita![/field]

Manita and her mother curated each outfit. For the Welcome event, I wanted to wear colors that would invoke the sunset over the ocean and chose a flowing pink to fiery red ombre strapless gown. I paired it with simple solitaires and a matching diamond necklace. For the Sangeet, I wanted to be glamorous but comfortable to move and dance freely with my bridesmaids for our dance performances. I chose a lavender Manish Malhotra sharara and wore my hair in a French braid to display my rose pink tikka and diamond solitaires. While the outfit was encrusted in pearls and sequins, the soft drape of the wide-legged pants and top kept me comfortable all night. For the Anand Karaj, I wanted to pay respects to my Sikh heritage and wear a traditional Punjabi suit. I chose a candy pink shade, and the dupatta was lined with kiran, or gold fringe, a traditional bridal texture. Earlier in the wedding weekend, my Uncles performed the Chura ceremony, helping me put on a set of magenta bridal bangles cleansed in milk. I completed the look with a traditional heirloom custom gold jewelry set with matching earrings, tikka, and bangles. For the Wedding Ceremony, I knew that I had to wear Sabyasachi. I am fascinated with old-world textures, colors, and prints,s and no one does it better than Sabyasachi. However, I knew I was not a “traditional bridal red” bride – I was looking for something unique that still incorporated royal colors and elements. I chose a salmon orange lehenga with intricate, heavy gold work and lined with a red velvet trim. The deep-V blouse had a modern cut to complement the traditional lehenga work, and I paired the outfit with a double dupatta and veil. I wore a beautiful gold and diamond set gifted to me by my parents from Tanishq Jewelers. For the Reception, I wanted a glamorous look that honored the history and architecture of the Palace, which was our reception venue. I wanted the look to err on the side of Baroque-era royalty, given the palatial backdrop that still incorporated a chic and elegant party vibe. I chose a Falguni Shane Peacock pale pink lehenga covered in intricate silver and gold gota work and kiran (gold fringe). I wore my hair in soft curls and accessorized with a ruby and diamond necklace and a tikka set.

We served traditional Punjabi food served by Passage to India at the reception. The cocktail menu ranged from Negronis, Palomas, spicy margaritas, and Old Fashioneds.

For the Welcome, we wanted to bring alive the Portuguese culture and invoke blues, turquoises, yellows, greens and whites, complemented by the sea and palm trees dotting the Forte da Cruz. For the Haldi, we complemented the traditional yellows and greens with bright paper flowers in a range of pinks that perfectly matched the architecture and lawns of Penha Longa. For the Sangeet, we wanted bright colours – corals, deep indigo, bright pinks, and kelly green – bringing the Quinta Bellavista Caparica alive with vivid hues. For the Anand Karaj, to match Manita’s candy pink Sikh bridal salwar kameez, the flowers were soft pinks and whites. To invoke our Indian-American backgrounds, and because Manita loves Bollywood, we performed our first dance to a mashup between Ed Sheeran’s Collide and Chaleya from Jawan. We attended an Ed Sheeran concert together for one of our first Valentine’s Day celebrations, so the choice of song was extra meaningful! I would be remiss to not mention the moment the party absolutely *exploded* – when our La Hora Loca dancers appeared, and shot off dozens of confetti canons simultaneously, the DJ cranked up the Punjabi music, and the crowd absolutely lost it. My favorite memory is Vijay and me dancing together, with my arms wrapped around my family, my bridesmaids’ arms wrapped around me, surrounded by confetti and color bombs.

Let your photographer’s work guide your decisions early. We came across Diane’s beautiful wedding photography on Instagram at the very start of our venue research, and her imagery was a major reason we chose Lisbon/Sintra for our destination wedding. Look for an aesthetic that truly aligns with what you’re hoping for, especially candid photos that bring out the very best of the subject matter, whether it’s the couple, their families, the venues, decor, stationery… When it’s the right fit, it’s breathtakingly beautiful, and it transports the viewer.

Remain authentic to what you really care about – there can be too many priorities to balance, and maintaining your vision as the north star is the best way to ensure your dreams come to life. For decor and aesthetic inspiration, I really leaned on the venues themselves to guide the way and help bring my visions to life – working with the infrastructure available and invoking the colors and textures already present in the venue really magnified the impact of our decor choices. Finally, put that phone on do not disturb and remain as present as you can. My husband and I wrote down our favorite memories from the weekend when we left for our mini-moon to crystallize the feelings at that moment in time – highly recommend this, as it’s a great way to preserve the joy and gratitude.

When Pantone’s “Cloud” Meets Emerald Green: A Fresh Take on a Classic DC Summer Wedding

Nicole and Will’s wedding at the Fairmont in Washington, DC, was the definition of classic elegance with a deeply personal twist. Taking place on one of the hottest days of the year in the city, their celebration somehow still felt light, joyful, and refreshing — a testament to the thoughtful design, soft color palette, and happiness that surrounded them all day long. The couple chose the Fairmont’s Colonnade Room for its natural light, openness, and classic architecture — a blank canvas that they transformed with a palette inspired by Pantone’s Color of the Year, “Cloud.” Crisp whites were paired with lush emerald green florals and soft pops of blue and yellow, creating a look that felt elegant yet effortless, even in the summer heat. The result was a Washington DC wedding that felt cool, calm, and inviting from start to finish. From the bride: “Our vision was classic, elegant, and simply us. We love rich greens, with accents of soft blue and buttercup yellow that all feel very natural and easy. Our relationship is so easy and fun, so we wanted that to show through in our design!”

Will and I met on the first day of school at Boston College in 2015. We were fast friends and began dating Sophomore Spring! In the spring of 2024, living in Washington, DC, I had a feeling Will was going to propose. I had completely convinced myself it was going to happen one Saturday in April. Will knew I was convinced, so he surprised me by being down on one knee in our apartment when I got home from work on Friday afternoon. I was shocked to say the least, Sephora box in hand, on the phone with my parents, sobbing!

The one thing I knew I wanted in a wedding gown was an A-line or ballgown shape. I have Type 1 Diabetes and wear an insulin pump, so I wanted to make sure I had enough room to secure it properly under my dress. I was also almost certain I did not want a strapless gown. I fell in love with my dress instantly. It is a high-neck, sleeveless Romona Keveza dress in ivory Shantung silk with a subtle lace detail at the waist. It is classic, elegant, and most importantly, it made me feel like myself when I put it on. I could see myself walking down to meet Will at the end of the aisle so easily. I still think about how beautiful my dress is and hope one day I have a daughter so she can wear it on her wedding day if she wants to!

As an artist, I was excited by the movement that Amaranthus brought to the bouquets and centerpieces, and as a Rhode Islander, I knew I wanted Hydrangeas to be featured! We wanted everything to feel really lush and elegant.

We were watching my parents’ wedding video a few months before our wedding, and their cake was a very classic, 90s cake with three tiers and fabulous piping. We wanted our cake to look the same as theirs! As a sculptor, I think all of the vintage piping that has resurfaced is so much fun.

We were so happy to have family members read them during our ceremony. The music was very important to us; I walked down to Canon in D, and we had a string quartet perform One Hand, One Heart, the same song featured in my parents’ ceremony. Reception songs were really fun to choose! We are huge Jack Johnson fans, so our first dance song, Angel, was everything we wanted it to be and more. [/field]

One of our favorite details that we incorporated into the wedding was my drawings and watercolors. I drew all the florals on our invitation suites and welcome sign, and incorporated two watercolors of the church as well. I also made fun cocktail napkins featuring our orange cat, Cleo!

The kind that makes room, makes memories, and somehow makes it all look effortless. From a quiet ceremony by the sea to an evening under soft, sail-draped peaks, everything about this day felt like golden hour, stretched out and full of heart. A guest appearance by American Idol’s very own Will Moseley brought the dance floor to life while guests swayed and laughed the night away. There was limoncello on ice (a twist on limoncello to play to their love of key lime pies) that was served from a custom-built cart and just enough sweetness to feel like a kid again. Everything from the design, the flavors, and the feelings was rooted in family. Two hearts, four kids, and two wagging tails seemed like they were waiting for this day, too. A full table, and a full heart; a love made of perfect pairs and just the right amount of wild. Their life began with a beautiful blend, a table set for six, and a future that felt like home.

Connie & Tom’s decor drew inspiration from their love story and their shared love for whiskey, tobacco, and bourbon. With tobacco leaves drifting overhead, lanterns casting a golden glow, velvet seating throughout, textured tablescapes, and florals spilling effortlessly across the space, the reception felt like a cozy dinner party. Guests found their seats on the “Life With You” swing wall custom-built by Backup Productions. alluding to lyrics from their favorite country song. by Kelsey Hart. Guests also left with a bottle of wine from the custom-built wine wall, because details taste better when they’re poured straight from the heart. The earthy colors of the day wrapped around guests like a long embrace, kissed with citrus and just a hint of spice and tobacco. Florals were organic and untamed in the best way, as if pulled from the Italian countryside. Each stem full of movement, softness, and story. Every detail of this wedding came with intention, including the fully custom bar built on site. Before leaving, guests took a stop at the whiskey wall to pick up a glass filled with goodies to take home, including cigars, bourbon, and whiskey stones engraved with their names!

A Vino Veritas custom wall held custom-created wine bottles that read “Gilbert’s grapes,” a play on their new last name, Gilbert. Guests were favored with wine bottles that they carried away in custom leather pouches.

[field title=”Special Detail #3″]We kicked off the weekend with a beach bonfire surrounded by about 50 of our closest friends and family, which set the tone for everything to come. It felt intimate, laid-back, and very special. One of the highlights was having American Idol 2024 runner-up Will Moseley there performing live with his guitarist—it made the night feel incredibly personal and memorable.
The night before the wedding, we hosted our rehearsal dinner in a pavilion right on the beach, which then turned into a welcome party for all of our guests who had already arrived. It was such a fun, easy transition into a bigger celebration. Will played again, and then the groom-to-be completely surprised me with a choreographed flash mob—which I did not see coming at all. It was honestly one of my favorite moments of the entire weekend.
The ceremony itself was exactly what we wanted—very intimate, with just our closest friends and family gathered on the beach in Seaside. We also included our two dogs, Bristol and Maui, who wore the cutest little beachy vests and totally stole the show. After we said our “I do’s,” we headed into the reception with the rest of our guests, which truly felt like a dream. It carried that same Italian vineyard feel with an abundance of flowers, a limoncello cart, and the most incredible food. We had a pasta station, a risotto station, and so many other delicious options from Townsend Catering—it was even better than we had imagined.
We wanted every detail to feel intimate and personal, so we included thoughtful, customized touches for our guests. For the men, we included a bourbon and cigar bar, complete with personalized engraved whiskey stones. For the women, we gifted bottles of wine with custom labels reading “Gilbert’s Grapes,” which added a fun and meaningful nod to the celebration.[/field]

Our inspiration was a colorful, romantic summer garden. We got married at an Italian-style stone estate, so we wanted pops of color to contrast the venue’s neutral tones. We naturally gravitated toward pinks and blues, and our planner joked that it reminded her of Sleeping Beauty. From there, we leaned into subtle nods to our favorite fairytales, with a touch of whimsy.

As the photographer snapped pictures, Nick got down on one knee and proposed in front of the entire atrium. It was very much a blur, but we remembered Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and other fellow cruisers, cheering and congratulating us. We’ve taken many Disney trips together, but this one was by far the most magical.[/field]

I’ve always envisioned myself in a long, flowing wedding dress, and I knew immediately when I tried on the Ines Di Santo Alexis gown that it was the one. With its sweetheart neckline and embroidered florals, it felt timeless and romantic, and I even used extra fabric from alterations to add detachable off-the-shoulder sleeves. For the dance floor, I changed into a second Ines Di Santo look, this time a lacy silhouette that began as a long dress before I shortened it into a mini. The switch felt playful and modern, offering the perfect contrast to my first gown.

I let my bridesmaids choose any dress they loved from Birdy Grey, as long as it was pink or pink florals. I wanted their looks to feel like they’d stepped straight into a summer garden. As a little gift, I told them to pick whatever spoke to them from Olive & Piper or Untamed Petals, hoping they’d find something they’d wear long after the wedding. I wanted each piece to be a reminder of our friendship and of sharing such a magical day. Seeing them in dresses and accessories they truly loved made me feel so seen and surrounded by love. It was a small detail, but one that made the day feel even more personal and joyful.

As big foodies who run a food-review Instagram together, we’ve always tried new flavors as part of our relationship. For the wedding, we got adventurous with appetizers like duck, lamb, and hamachi, but kept mains classic with steak, sea bass, and risotto. We then offered late-night bites like sliders, quesadillas, and fried chicken. Pausmith Group listened to what we wanted to share with our guests, and together we created the perfect menu for the evening. Our signature cocktails were personal too as we had the bride’s with tequila, ginger, lemongrass, Thai basil, and a curry salt rim, and the groom’s with a fig old-fashioned.

Music is a huge part of our lives. Jessica played instruments growing up, so having live music throughout the day felt essential. A string trio performed songs by Porter Robinson (one of the groom’s favorites) and Taylor Swift (one of the bride’s favorites) during the ceremony, then we switched to an electric violinist for cocktail hour. To end the night, we surprised guests with a set by Manila Killa, a DJ we’ve followed since our early days of dating! We had the best time sharing something so personal with our family and friends.

In honor of our love for Disney, each table was named after a different fictional or fantasy world from a Disney movie. Our artist created watercolor postcards of each, on which guests found their names as part of the seating chart, and got to take home as keepsakes. Once all the postcards were taken, our seating chart wall was repurposed as the photobooth backdrop. It was a perfect two-for-one custom build!

It was important for our dog Eevie to be part of the day, but we wanted her to be comfortable and cared for. We hired a dedicated dog attendant to walk and feed her, but he went above and beyond and even filmed a “POV video” as she greeted and danced with guests. Our wedding party surprised us with giant cut-outs of her during the Grand Entrance, which later became photobooth props!

That included my 102-year-old grandma, who drove down from San Francisco for our big day. She even got on the dance floor later and showed off some impressive moves! The celebration reflected their shared passions: Clara’s creative vision and design, in collaboration with her vendors — from concept sketches of the venue to the website invitations, graphic design, and all stationery — paired with Boris’s musical direction, including his own live piano performance. Set against the white-stone architecture and olive trees of Borgo Ritella, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

Instead of traditional wedding cards, the couple created a website invitation accompanied by a personal handwritten letter from Boris and Clara to each guest. Every guest received a personalized name coaster as a keepsake and a shot of local Limoncello, adding a touch of Southern Italian warmth. The wedding program was printed as a fan, thoughtfully designed to help guests stay cool under the Puglian summer sun.

For our wedding, we wanted a color palette that felt timeless — something that would remain beautiful in photos decades from now, no matter what trends came and went. Once we chose Las Ventanas as our venue, we knew a neutral palette for the wedding day would seamlessly complement its natural beauty rather than compete with it. Each event throughout the weekend also drew inspiration from the album covers of RÜFÜS DU SOL, a band that has been meaningful to our relationship. The welcome party reflected their Atlas album, with various shades of blue woven into the accessories and details. The rehearsal dinner embraced the darker, moodier tones of Bloom, creating an intimate, atmospheric setting. Finally, our ceremony colors echoed the Surrender album — a neutral ground meeting an expansive, cloudless blue sky — perfectly mirroring the breathtaking setting of our vows. This palette felt like an extension of who we are as a couple: grounded and understated, but always growing closer together through music, the sky, and the sea.

Those choices made the ceremony feel raw, genuine, and deeply moving — and judging from what our guests told us afterward, they felt it too. When reminiscing with our guests, we usually hear that every single guest, men and women alike, was crying right along with us. (My only regret: not handing out tissues beforehand!) We celebrated with about 70 of our closest friends and family, who had all traveled internationally to be there. Since this was the third day of the trip, guests from both sides had already begun to form close bonds with one another. By the time the ceremony began, it felt as though everyone was connected — united in the moment and wrapped together in the emotion of the day. It’s a memory we know our guests, and we will carry forever. Our dream was to create an experience that everyone would truly enjoy. Choosing to get married at Las Ventanas during peak whale season was no accident. The first time I visited Las Ventanas with my husband’s family, I witnessed my very first whale breaching just off the coast — an unforgettable moment that made the setting feel magical. We knew that we wanted our closest friends and family to experience that same sense of amazement. Sharing the brilliance of Los Cabos, the incredible whale migration, and the magic of Las Ventanas with the people we love most was at the heart of our dream. The fact that we also got to be married in the midst of it all felt like the most beautiful bonus.

Alex is such a romantic, and he lived up to every bit of his reputation during the proposal. We were on what I thought was a “nonchalant,” multi-destination trip for his birthday, starting with a few days at the One & Only Palmilla before heading to Montage Laguna Beach. I didn’t suspect much until friends started asking if I thought he might propose. When we arrived at our resort in Cabo, we walked into a room filled with rose petals, balloons, and a stunning bouquet with a note that read, “Welcome to paradise, my love.” My heart skipped a beat — I thought this was the moment! Alex just smiled from ear to ear, hugged me, and told me how happy he was to be there with me. It was beautiful, but I’ll admit I felt a twinge of disappointment I didn’t want to show. At our next stop in Laguna, the roses and chocolate-covered strawberries appeared again, along with his warm embrace… but still, no proposal. Finally, on the last night of the trip, as we walked to dinner, I noticed roses leading to a private back room of the restaurant. Inside were his entire family and my parents waiting to surprise me — and that’s when Alex got down on one knee. It was so special to celebrate surrounded by the people we love most, and the surprise of my parents being there made me so emotional. Later, I found out he had actually planned an extravagant outdoor proposal on the Montage property, complete with FaceTime meetings with a photographer and a mapped-out walk along the cliffs — only to have it completely rained out! In true Alex fashion, he pivoted with grace and heart. He is the sweetest man and would go to the ends of the earth for me. It was one of the most special days of my life.

I wanted a single dress that I could wear all night, and this gown struck the perfect balance — elegant and timeless for the ceremony, yet fun and effortless for the reception. I honestly wish I could wear it every single day![/field]

My bridesmaids were my mother and Alex’s mother, which felt so special. Since we were having an intimate destination wedding, I truly felt that all of the women in attendance were “bridesmaids.” To honor that, we asked every woman to wear nudes or neutrals. The palette looked absolutely stunning against the property of Las Ventanas, glowing in the Cabo sun and blending beautifully with the sandy beach at sunset. Beyond the color request, I wanted everyone — especially our moms — to feel completely comfortable and beautiful in their own styles. I let them choose their own dresses, and the result was effortless and elegant. The group photos with all of the women in those neutral tones are some of my favorites from the day — timeless, cohesive, and so full of love.

We wanted a sense of uniformity among the men in attendance. My father and Alex’s father stood as the groomsmen, and all of the men at the wedding wore classic black suits. Alex set himself apart in a black tuxedo, which made him look timeless and elevated. What made this especially meaningful was that Alex could take photos with any group of men at the wedding, and the whole picture looked seamless. The black suits and his tuxedo created a sophisticated, cohesive look that photographed beautifully.

The food at Las Ventanas is so incredible that it’s hard to choose favorites. If one thing stood out, it was the sushi bar at our welcome dinner. Guests are still talking about it! The chefs served high-end fish as individual pieces of nigiri, each with its own unique garnish to highlight the flavor. It was not only delicious but also interactive — guests could mingle, sample, and connect over beautifully crafted sushi. It set the tone for the entire celebration: elevated, memorable, and full of shared joy.

The florals and décor throughout the entire weekend were breathtaking, but our favorite display was at the rehearsal dinner at Arbol. This venue, tucked into the back of Las Ventanas, has a darker, more sultry atmosphere — the perfect setting for our Bloom-inspired theme. Our florist brought the album cover to life in the most stunning way. The tables were adorned with tall, thin black candles paired with lush, romantic, and textural florals. Deep mauves, dusty roses, and antique pinks echoed the tones of the Bloom artwork, blending seamlessly with the restaurant’s ambiance. It was moody, romantic, and felt like stepping directly into the music that inspired us. As this night was dark and sultry, the contrast in the reception the next day was absolutely stunning. The reception florals and candles were kept in soft, white tones with transparent glassware. After being in the rich, shadowy atmosphere of the rehearsal dinner, the light colors glowing on the beach — reflecting the hues of the sunset — felt even more magical.

We hadn’t originally planned on having a wedding cake, but decided at the last minute — and it ended up being one of the most beautiful details of the night. The cake was multi-tiered, adorned with delicate florals that perfectly echoed the reception décor. It looked as though it had been part of the design plan all along. The flavor was just as special: a light vanilla cake layered with passionfruit and banana. It was tropical, unexpected, and absolutely delicious — the perfect sweet ending to a day already overflowing with joy.

I walked down the aisle to “Next to Me” by RÜFÜS DU SOL — a song we had listened to countless times together, always imagining the day our future would become official. Their music feels timeless, and weaving it into the ceremony made it even more emotional.

Throughout the day, we incorporated other songs from RÜFÜS DU SOL’s Surrender album, creating a soundtrack that felt like “us.” For our first dance, however, we chose something different: “Breathe” by EMBRZ — the song that was playing the very first time we said “I love you” to each other.

Our DJ was absolutely incredible and closed the night with “Innerbloom” by RÜFÜS DU SOL. All of our guests joined us in a circle on the dance floor, and it turned into this beautiful, collective outpouring of love and emotion. It’s a moment we will never forget.[/field]

For our wedding favor, we gave each guest personalized maracas with their initials on them, placed at their reception seat. They added such a playful and memorable touch to the night — guests shook them as we made our entrance, during dinner whenever a favorite song came on (I still remember hearing them during What’s Up by 4 Non Blondes!), and of course on the dance floor. The maracas became a prop everyone loved, and guests still tell us they keep them at home as a fun reminder of the celebration.

It was this unplanned, collective outpouring of love and energy — a moment our guests and we will never forget.

Set against the coastal backdrop of Cabo and designed to transport guests into what felt like a dreamy garden dinner party by the sea, with sunset-inspired hues. The weekend flowed seamlessly between moods: an elegant outdoor rehearsal dinner inspired by European spritz culture, a vibrant “Be Our Something Blue” welcome party bursting with color, and a spirited “Pickleball Fiesta” tournament that brought levity and laughter into the celebration. The wedding day itself returned to a softer, pastel expression of the palette.

On the morning of the wedding, Zach gifted Emily a tennis necklace that perfectly complemented her Chanel sandals and a Dinny Hall bracelet designed with three stones symbolizing the outfits worn by Emily, her sister, and her mother.

Cocktail hour featured gazpacho shooters, crispy pork taquitos, and sea bass ceviche, paired with watermelon vodka cocktails and old fashioneds. Dinner included pistachio-pesto burrata salad, herb-stuffed roasted chicken, grilled seasonal vegetables, and creamy polenta. Late-night bites followed with fresh pizzas and warm pancakes with maple syrup, a nostalgic nod to the couple’s college days, playfully named “Arillaga Late Night.”

Bud vases of varying heights added softness, while color flowed in a sunset-inspired ombré from soft peach to deep violet across each table. Custom tablecloths featured oversized versions of the floral pattern in rich purples, adding bold personality.

Hannah and Cory’s wedding story is a perfect example of that. What began as a meticulously planned celebration in St. Simons Island, Georgia, turned into one of the most heartfelt, intimate, and memorable days. It took place in a beautiful corner of Mexico. A HURRICANE CHANGES EVERYTHING. Hannah and Cory were weeks away from their October wedding in St. Simons Island. Vendors were booked, timelines were set, and excitement was high… until a hurricane threatened to derail it all. With just three days to go, and the storm bearing down on the island, they made the incredibly difficult decision to cancel everything. It was a stressful, heartbreaking few days — especially when, by the day before their wedding, the hurricane had shifted course and clear, sunny skies returned. Though relieved, they were devastated that all the planning, anticipation, flights, and preparations had been lost. They chose not to reschedule: too much energy, emotion, and cost had already gone into planning once. But life had other plans. When the local St. Simons community heard what had happened, something truly beautiful unfolded. Neighbors, friends, and community members rallied and arranged a surprise, spontaneous mini wedding celebration in the town’s park. This was for the guests who had already made the trip. To begin the day, we started at the breathtaking Belmond Casa de Sierra Nevada. It was a setting that perfectly matched the elegance and simplicity Hannah envisioned.
Hannah wore an exquisite gown by Rebecca Schoneveld — the one she always dreamed of. For her getting-ready look, she chose breezy, stylish pieces from If Only If Nightwear, capturing both comfort and sophistication. I also loved photographing her custom engagement ring by Diamond Au Pair — truly one of my favorites.
The morning was filled with quiet joy: just Hannah, her mom, and her best friend. They shared laughs, nerves, and the gorgeous morning light as each moment built into something genuinely emotional.

PRIVATE DINNER AT CASA HOYOS After a relaxing cocktail hour at the Belmond, Hannah changed into a stunning custom-made outfit. It was designed by one of my past brides, Lesea Berry. The look was playful, polished, and perfect for an evening stroll through San Miguel’s colorful streets. We walked through town once more, soaking in the textures, sounds, and golden light, on our way to Casa Hoyos. For dinner, we moved to Casa Hoyos for an intimate meal with just their closest family. Hannah and her mother led the design, creating all the floral arrangements for the table themselves. Everything — from the handmade napkins and dishware to the taper candles and vases — had been found at local shops around San Miguel in the days before the wedding. Each piece included a tiny charm or story from the town itself. It made the dinner table feel not just beautiful but deeply personal. As the sun set and the evening cooled, the warmth of family, food, and a love story that had already weathered so much filled the air.
